Reflections

Calling all the artists! This year's theme is “I Will Change the World by…”


Students can participate in one or all the categories:  

Visual Arts, Music Composition, Dance Choreography, Photography, Film Production, Special Artist, and Literature.

The Texas PTA and the National PTA Reflections Program supports student success and serves as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in your school community. 


National PTA Reflections welcomes all grades and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Annually, thousands of students will reflect on a common theme and create original works of art in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts and special artist.

Submitting Entries


We will be accepting electronic entries this year. These must be turned in via a file drop here any time between now and Tuesday, November 2.


RULES:

1. You must be a SLHS PTSA member to participate. Join here.

2. Submit required entry form - found  here

3. Submit artwork/piece - be sure to reference the Student Program Rules for acceptable file formats and other details for each category.  Include Student Name in all file names. 

4. All participants should submit a digital copy of their work in a file that is less than one Gigabyte, and/or less than five minutes if submitting a video or audio recording.

Awards and Recognition

Each level of Reflections judging will determine how and when their participating students are celebrated. Here is an outline of the awards and recognition received if the entry advances to Texas PTA and National PTA.

START DREAMING UP THE 2022-2023 THEME!


The search is on for a future National PTA Reflections theme!  The Reflections theme changes every year, and we need student suggestions! Each state selects five student theme suggestions to advance to national-level judging. National PTA then selects one exceptional theme to inspire creativity for the following year’s PTA Reflections program. The student winner will receive $100 and recognition at the Annual National PTA Convention!

There is no limit to how many different themes you can enter. When suggesting a theme, these are the items that judges take into consideration:

· Theme is unique, inspiring and unlike past program themes

· Theme is focused without being too narrow or too broad

· Theme is clear, concise and appropriate for all grade levels

· Theme is applicable to all arts categories

· Theme promotes PTA values

· Theme is relevant in 2 years

· Past themes and duplicate entries are not considered
